Bayer Pharma AG and the University of Bonn with the LIMES Institute and the pharmaceutical center of Bonn build on cooperation success

Signing of a new cooperation agreement and the award of three Bayer Promotion Prizes for outstanding doctoral dissertations.

Coordinator of Bayer Pharma AG, Prof. Hanno Wild, together with LIMES Managing Director Prof. Michael Hoch, Spokesperson of the University of Bonn’s pharmaceutical Centre, Prof. Christa Mueller and deputy speaker Prof. Alexander Pfeifer signed a new cooperation agreement until 2015.

Under this agreement, Bayer Pharma AG will promote three graduate students with a 3-year scholarship and provide each a scientific mentor. In addition, the company offers internships at its facilities in Wuppertal and Berlin. Furthermore, the partners will meet for scientific exchange in the context of lectures, conferences and symposia. For outstanding academic dissertations in pharmaceutical and biomedical research, Bayer Promotion prizes are awarded annually.

During the Pharmaceutical Symposium on 17 December 2012, three Bayer prizes (€ 1,500 each) were awarded for outstanding doctoral dissertations to:

  • Dr. Wiebke Niebel (Lab of Prof. Alf Lamprecht, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical center of Bonn), 
  • Dr. Anne-Katrin Turley (Lab of Prof. Michael Wiese, Pharmaceutical Chemistry II, pharmaceutical center of Bonn) and 
  • Dr. Anne Mai Wassermann  (Lab of Prof. Bajorath, Chemoinformatics, Computational Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology, LIMES Institute) - former student of Molecular Biomedicine.
