Admission requirements

1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (German grading system) in

  • Molecular Biomedicine 
  • Chemistry
  • Biology 
  • Biotechnology 
  • Molecular life sciences 
  • Pharmacy
  • or related fields.

 

2. Additionally, applicants must have conducted an experimental bachelor thesis or a bachelor thesis in the field of applied bioinformatics.

 

3. In their previous Bachelor’s studies, applicants should have passed at a minimum three modules (equivalent to at least 30 ECTS-CPs in total) in the following areas:

  • Chemical Biology 
  • Developmental Biology
  • Immunology
  • Genetics
  • Biochemistry 

 

4. Applicants who are not native speakers of English should demonstrate adequate competence of the English language by acceptable results on an internationally recognized test. Minimum language requirements are met by achieving the following test scores:

  • TOEFL paper-based test: 550 
  • TOEFL computer-based test: 213
  • TOEFL internet-based test: 87-109
  • IELTS: 6.0

In addition, the certificates APIEL and CPE meet the requirements of English proficiency.

Applicants that took English courses at a German gymnasium until their final examinations (Abitur) or that wrote their bachelor's thesis in English do not need the above mentioned tests. 

 

 

Online Application

Admission to the Master program Biochemistry involves a selection procedure based on academic achievements.
 

  • Application deadline for EU-citizens/applicants is on June 30th.
  • Application deadline for Non-EU-citizens/applicants  is on April 30th. 

Applicants from non-EU countries (including the UK) are requested to participate in a video interview to determine whether their Bachelor's degree meets the necessary requirements. The interviews will be held in May.

  • copies of academic degree certificates (including grades)
  • any documents on further academic degrees
  • copies of the proof of proficiency in English
