Fly projects

Studies in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster have revealed a multitude of novel and fundamental insights into genetic networks which control development, patterning, growth and physiology. Many basic biological, physiological, and neurological properties are conserved between mammals and Drosophila and about 75% of human disease-causing genes are believed to have a functional homolog in the fly.

Our Drosophila work has focused in the last years on identifying new regulators and genetic networks controlling Innate immunityLipid metabolism and Cell signaling
